I lived just blocks from John's first shop, and it is incredible the rigs that he produced from some very basic facilities. I remember seeing the Henry J's being built. When you think about the evolution of the sport as we know it today, he was one of the pioneers and innovators. Wish him the very best in future endeavors. Hope to see more pics of some of the rigs he has built.

Nozz: Thanks you for starting this thread in tribute to a great builder.
I too, have a neat John Mosior story. On a Friday nite before a drill (naturally, isn't that when all bad thing happen??) way back in 1971 or so, I went to visit Bob Longabardi at Garden City Park. When I arrived, there were long faces all around. Bob's father Gus, who was the driver at the time, was holding a completely trashed cylander head from thier hemi in the C-truck. It was cracked. Done. Finished. Kaput. They called around and nobody had an extra head to give them for the next day. Gus then hung up the phone, and said to Bobby that 'John' wanted to see the head. Go take it to him. Who was this magical John guy, anyway? So, I took a ride with Gus and Bobby, and we went to a dingy garage we see in the pictures. At that time it was filled with Hewlett's Old B truck. He was chopping 36" out of the middle, shortening it, right there in a garage, next to his home! He took a look at the head, and frowned, but said he could give something a try. He began a slow painstaking process of welding the cylander head, building up the weld, a little at a time. Now I had dealt with cracked heads before, and YOU CAN'T WELD THOSE THINGS. PERIOD. RIGHT? Not that day..... After John built the weld up, he shaved the deck down to a mirror finish, and although he said it wasn't a permanent fix, it should work. He never blinked an eye. The Mustangs ran the C-truck the next day, and although I don't know if they scored, they ran, and that was amazing enough. I learned a thing or two the night I met John Mosior.

Kenny, you must be like the rest of us and look at the pictures long before you read what goes with the pictures. At the top of this thread it says that John is giving his distributorships for Hale and Metallic Ladder Co. to Boots from Flanders. Flanders is in the southeast corner of Riverhead. Boots aka. Boots Built Hot Rods aka Boots Built. Boots built Cutchogue and Selden's C Trucks. Boots also lengthened West Islip's C Truck in 2001 for the 2002 season. He accomplished that job in 2 weeks with paint! Boots was the man who recreated the Rough Riders C Truck that they got from Selden, who originally got it from the Rough Riders in the first place. He did an excellent job on that old chassis. For those that don't know Boots, he works on a lot of stock cars from Riverhead Raceway as well as drag cars. Boots is an Ex Chief and active firefighter of the Flanders Fire Dept. He is also a member of the Flanders-South Hampton Ambulance Corps. Boots is also well versed in Harleys, Street Rods, Muscle Cars and general welding and fabrication. I would strongly reccommend him to anyone as the ride out east is not really a far ride. It's easier than heading west. I hope the answer to your question is helpful.

I'm sorry Kenny if it sounded like I came on to strong. Many times I look at the pictures before I read what goes with them. John is working Boots into this. John has been to his shop and he is impressed with Boots work. John will not be moving to Tennessee for about a year and he has the intentions of guiding Boots thru the jobs as needed.

Note the dual fronts on the Termites B truck (a rare appearance).
