Nice additions this month including this shot on page 5 of the old Woodmere "Clamdiggers" old B rig that eventually went onto Roslyn Rescue "Steamers" and then onto NHP who did the cut down to the hosebed .

Bangtail2007 - Regarding your inquiry as to the whereabouts of the the Bangtails old B-Truck ... I believe that this is the truck that was purchased by the South Farmingdale FD "Original Road Runners" Drill Team, and it was kept in their Sta #2 firehouse for a couple of years. As the story was told to me, right after the purchase, some of the key drill team members moved out of town, and some got new jobs that conflicted with practicing/drilling. If this is the truck, it never saw the track for South Farmingdale ... however, where it went from there remains a mystery.

I asked my dad about it he did not know were it went or just get junk yarded Thanks to Marv for that great follow up, and also to clarify: Maybe your Dad, or Grandpa raced in 1964, but that truck was a 48-50 Ford F-5. I never understood why it didn't return to the track. It was in pretty good shape when turned over to South F'dale.

And this discussion as triggered by fdracing memories is a great example of why the memories should continue! But thought the Woodmere rig eventually went to NHP who cut the hosebed (per previous reply), and I thought NHP's old Ford B went to Islip Terrace who used the hose bed - I must have the rigs confused?

You may be confusing the time that they owned each one. Indeed, they are 2 different rigs. The Termite's B-Truck for the 50's and 60's, was a 56' Ford, and it was sold in 1964 to Islip Terrace, who continues to run it today. When NHP got back into motorized racing in 1971, they purchased the 1954 Ford with the large body from Roslyn Rescue, who had purchased it from Woodmere. They then cut the hose bed sides down to what we can see in later photos.
