Patchogue ran an 8.52 for 2nd place at the '80 state drill.
Also, the 8.55 in 1979 is also by Patchogue at the Hempstead Invite.
Nice work on all this stuff...guess you had some free time today?

I believe the 3 teams with times listed from '79 and '80 had a distinct advantage. Anyone care to guess?

Was that the time when the water test was conducted through double jacket but teams had began to run with "canadian" hose?

Was that the time when the water test was conducted through double jacket but teams had began to run with "canadian" hose? Yes, that is correct, but I think for 79 only. I am pretty sure that all areas water tested with "saturn" hose in 1980.

8X is correct. Historian may be as well. I thought it took a few years for the assoc. hose to catch up, and start testing with "canadian" or "saturn" type hose. Anyone with solid info on this?

Hicksville ran an 8.55 on Labor Day at Hempstead in 2008. That was a good efficiency day.

The North Bellmore Rinky Dinks ran an 8.74 in 1996. At the time it was in the top five of fastest shots ever.

A special mention should be made for East Meadow's 8.62 State Record run at the State Drill in Watertown in 1976.
That stands as the fastest run with the old style, single jacket hose. It broke a standing record of 9.00, set by West Sayville a year before.

It broke a standing record of 9.00, set by West Sayville a year before. As we mentioned on last year's State Drill broadcast, that 8 by East Meadow was the first ever 8 to be run in efficiency. That tournament also featured the first ever 12 in c-hose. (12.86 by the eventual state champion Hoboes.)

Especially considering the fact that the first sub 8.6 was run in 1979 and the first 19 in buckets came in 1986.

8.46 is not the best time ever run.
