8.45 is the best time ever run.
Everybody remembers the 8.46, because it was run in the Wide World of Sports special in 1980. But Central Islip actually broke the record again two weeks later at the Labor Day drill in Islip Terrace.
My Dad has a stack of scorecards that I've been meaning to enter one by one because they are not online - it's right here, 8.45. (My mom wrote SR next to it!) Patchogue also broke the Pump record with a 6.10.
According to nysdrillteams.com:
History of efficiency records:
8.51 WEST SAYVILLE 8/2/08 @ HEMPSTEAD
8.51 NHP 7/7/01 @ HEMPSTEAD
8.64 W HEMPSTEAD 8/30/91 @ HEMPSTEAD
8.91 N LINDENHURST 8/3/91
8.93 PATCHOGUE 7/27/91@CI
9.12 ST JAMES 6/9/90 @ RIDGE
9.34 CI 6/2/90 @ LINDENHURST
8.58 HEMPSTEAD (YH) 7/4/87 @ HEMPSTEAD
8.61 EAST MEADOW 6/29/86 @ PATCHOGUE
8.46 CI 8/16/80 @ HEMPSTEAD
8.55 1979
8.62 EAST MEADOW 8/21/76
9.00 WEST SAYVILLE @ BAYPORT 1975
9.38 MANHASSET 9/4/72 @ HICKSVILLE
9.40 NORTH BELLMORE 8/72
9.70 CI 7/29/61
9.99 ISLIP
10.17 SYOSSET
10.24 ALBERTSON
If you notice, the 8.46 was "beaten" by an 8.61 by East Meadow in 1986. That tells me the 8.46 had to be retired at some point.
We need to verify this one.
If I am not mistaken, in between Manhasset's 9.38 & west Sayville's 9.00, CI & Manhassett had a 9.20 & a 9.14. Not sure which team had which time.
