Just wanted to organize a thread about five 5s in Motor Pump. As of the date of this thread, running a 5 in motor pump has always resulted in a team scoring points. In fact, only five times in racing history have five 5s been run on the same day. Think about that, only FIVE times in history. Here are the days in racing history where five 5s were run in the same day.
1) 2006 State Drill in Deerfield. (South. Hemp ran a 6.10 for sixth, STJ 624 for 7th, NHP 626 8th, Westbury 630 9th, EI 639 10th, and Lindy 648 11th.)
2) 2012 State Drill in Main Transit. (North Lindy ran a 6.09 for sixth place.)
3) 2017 Selden Invite @ Ridge. (West Hempstead ran a 6.11 for sixth, West Sayville 6.21 for 7th, and Farmingville 6.33 for 8th)
4) 2021 Central Islip Invite. (Bay Shore ran a 6.05 for sixth, Point Pleasant ran a 6.19 for 7th.)
5) 2022 Central Islip Invite. (East Islip ran a 6.05 for sixth, Patchogue 633 for 7th, Islip 643 for 8th, South Hempstead 648 for 9th.)
Some honorable mentions for great pump days:
None of the dates below featured five 5s, but 1st-6th were fast times.
CI Invite 2012 (East Islip ran 6.19 for sixth.)
CI Invite 2013 (North Lindy ran 6.18 for sixth.)
CI Invite 2014 (Islip ran 6.05 for sixth, Copiague ran 6.14 for seventh, and Hicksville ran 6.23 for eighth.)
Hagerman 2016 (Fives were run in four consecutive shots. Islip 635 for 6th, Copiague 642 7th, Farmingville 644 8th, PWRR 650 9th, Cutchouge 651 10th, Lindy 653 11th.)
Islip's run of 6.05 at the '14 CI invite and Bay Shore's run of 6.05 at the '21 CI Invite, and East Islip's run of 6.05 at the '22 CI Invite currently stand in a 3-way tie as the fastest time to be run in motor pump to NOT score points.
When will the day come where a 5 doesn't score? We're close...
