Sayville would like to work between fire districts so we dont have to put it out to bid and give a new team a chance to have a B truck for 2012. We have done some work with the Truck and had it on the track in Oct this year. If you are interested please contact Mark Schmittzeh at 724 841 3033.
Thanks

I believe the Bay Shore Redskins B truck was updated with a Chivvis body, and I also think the Yellow Hornets built there truck themselves, maybe some one can verify these items.

Hempstead Yellow Hornets truck was built by Chivvis. The design was just a little different than all the other trucks. Seems to me that JR Catrell had something to do with that design. Can Paulie confirm if Chivvis built the back of Bay Shore's truck for a refirb?

The Holbrook C Truck has been sleeping in Deer Park for the last couple of years. Maybe we will see it on the track this year. Last year the engine that came with it was installed and it should be ready to go.
St James B Truck had the back end fabricated by a welder in Smithtown. This was the only body he built. The B Truck formally owned by St. James and currentlly residing in Cutchogue had the modifications done by John Mosier of Nassau Custom Fabrications. The truck originally was built with the rear body from thier old 1940's B Truck. It started life with a roof and doors. One of those doors is still hanging in the Cat House. Mosier cut off the roof and finished off the door area before building the new body. There are pictures of this job on the John Mosier Tribute on this web site.

My brother and the guys at Chivvis gave me the following info: No hard records for years built, but did say Wyandanch was first, followed by North Babylon. These were the last of the 500 series trucks. Rules were changed to allow for lighter cabs. North Lindy was 3rd and the first of the lighter cab trucks. They did do Hempstead Hornets, and they believe it was a year after a State Championship- which would be 1985 0r 1986. They did do Bay Shores refurb in 1988, And they made parts for Mineola but the truck was built by Mosier. Hope this helps

Funny you should ask! Mosier was the fabricator on the backbody refurb.
