The best part of seeing pictures of Old Fashioned in the 1970's is the size of the crowds.

I was living in Valley Stream at the time, that was their 75th anniversary drill and if I remember right, they had a HUGE turn out for that drill. The parade was Saturday night and the drill was Sunday. This was a scafold arch that was set up right on the street and if you look at the running ladder photo, you can see the LIRR overpass that runs by Sunrise Hwy. I forgot the name of the street. I know they had a permanent arch on East Hawthorne Ave, that was along the LIRR and close Lynbrook, but I think it was used for interdepartment drills. Out of curiousity, does anyone happen to have the line up and results from that drill?

I can tell you that the Flukes came in second that day to the Dead End Kids, who owned Old Fashioned Drills that year. (and many others..)

Was that "65 plywood "on some "67 StingRay" wheels?

I could be wrong but I think the drill was on a side street behind the Valley Stream Town Hall which is located on Central Ave. just north of Sunrise Hwy. That street name I am not sure of but there is a park behind the bleachers opposite the hydrant.

Yup, it was right on Hicks Street, right next to Village Green Park.
They ran another drill there again on 8/19/78.
