OK, I found this up at the Hudson Museum...it's dated 1909. Can anyone tell me what team this is, or what "P.H.C." stands for? Thanks, Mike

OK, I think I got this one. That is Protection Hose Co #3 from Hempstead. That hose wagon can still be seen at the Holly Avenue firehouse.
My guess is as good as anyones...! Anybody else??

Hey Geek, I just came across another photo - this time from a different source, the Queens Borough Library - that appears to be the same team; they have it listed as the Protection Hose Co. of Lynbrook...does that sound right?

Mike: Same sweaters, same wagon? Must be the vamps from Hempstead. Looks like another case of yellow journalism!
I checked LynbrookFD.org and they have had only one Hose Company, not three. Doesn't look like they ever had a company named Protection, so that may be another picture of the Hempstead company.

That could be Protection Hose Company - New Hyde Park. This team was called the gamblers and was around before the Termites. If you look close, the breaker in the picture looks like Phil.

Geek you are 100% correct. This picture is still displayed in the basement rec-room of Holly Avenue Firehouse.

Thanks again for the confirmation. Here's the other pic I was talking about, from the Queens Borough Library, dated 1911 (two years after the other one) - fdracing.911pictures.com/Lynbrook PHC 1911LR.jpg[/img]
