As suggested by members of the Executive Committee, here are some scenes from the drill at West Carthage last Saturday, for the benefit of those on the island who have never been to a Northern drill. It was some home-spun fun up north! Moving the arch onto the track... Moving it into position... Making sure it's plumb... Making sure it won't move... The arch in position, along with the announcer's stand... Looking down the track, one side... And another view showing the stands and infield/paddock area... The Timing Truck arrives... Making sure the "hydrant" is to rulebook specs... Some nails to make sure it stays put... The "Hydrant", ready to go... OK Here we go! Three Man Ladder... B-Ladder... Some kids found it a bit loud... ...so they played Water Ball out back instead... Yup, you know you're drilling out in the sticks...! B-Hose... This is Scott Burto, who is also the Mayor of West Carthage as well as a Hornets team member...very cool Efficiency... Motor Hose Replacement, which is included in all Northern drills... 4-yr-old Dylan Thomas of the Hornets works on his C-Ladder technique... Buckets... Buckets II... Congratulations to Deerfield!
