Manual transmission, straight pipes off the block - this is a classic. Thanks

The Renegade's older C was neat build.
I wish there were more pictures of it. From what I can determine, it looks like a 53-56' Ford F-100 cab and chassis, that someone cleverly grafted the quarter panels from either a 56' Chevy wagon, or an even more rare Chevy Cameo pickup to make the rear hose bed. Well Done!!

I took this picture at the 1996 state drill at Deerfield. I'm not sure of any history of this truck or team. Does anyone out there know?

They bought the truck in 56 or 57 to drill with and only had it on the track for a year. However it is in excellent shape still. The top comes off and they still have the ladder rack for it.

Was that Quogue's team name "The Mermaids" It's a shame they didn't restore it.

Port washington actually had three willys.....The Road Runners willeys was originally built for the Flower Hill Runts by Eddie Akam and Claude Pardi 1965....the truck went to Elmont after PW and then upstate before being scrapped....Protection Engine company Rangers had a Willys built by Tommy D QAntonio that went to Oyster bay after they merged with Road Runners...It was run in handful of tournaments in 68 after engine was blown in Speedy(Runts truck)....Rowdys also converted the Their truck from originally looking like a modified b truck to a different look which was the "whale" and subsequently was converted to Willies nose...This truck went to Hicksville in 74 when the Rowdys merged with the Road Runners. Danny Cella did the bulf of work on the conversion for Rowdys.....Danny drove for Rowdys then the Road Runners

Great history - thanks. Do you know who the Runt's Willeys went to upstate or if they ever ran it? The Rowdy's Willeys had the front end pushed forward, I assume to lengthen the wheel base. Do you know if it was originally built that way, or later modified? Thanks
