I'm slowly working on the Glossary section on Vol II.
In Ladder, can someone describe what it means to get a "Whip", as opposed to "Spearing" the ladder?
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
When a climber says that he “Caught the whip” in b or c ladder, he is referring to the way that he gets pulled up by the ladder as it’s thrown. It’s all a timing thing. As the climber mounts and starts to climb, and if the dig and throw are just right, and if the driver’s drop was just right, the climber will get an extra pull from the ladder that will help him climb faster then he normally would off of a “dead” drop. Usually, you can actually see the extra speed that a climber who has “caught the whip” will climb with.
Chris

Tormentor- Position in the running cart ladder (OF) event. The tormentor holds the ladder at the appropriate angle before the start of the event to prevent fatigue.
Fluffer- Strokes the egoes of team members before an event in order to boost motivation and confidence in their "performance".

That's funny...I thought the Tormentor was the mentor who tore everything apart that you did to try and make you better...LOL

We needed to come up with a name for the position and tormentor seemed to work well since it is accurate with Fire Apparatus and such. The other name we had for the position was THROTCH.....because they are a mix between a thrower and a crutch for the 2 throwers in the back. Fluffer on the other hand also could have a double meaning. haha

"Click, Click, BANG" in 2 into 1 Two of the guys on the wye team make their brass and the other doesn't, you can never hear it from the stands but if it isn't fixed quickly, you'll see it

"The wye" - this is the last event run in old fashioned tournaments. It is usually run at lynbrooks camp and it involves a wye, 2 gates and 2 nozzles and anywhere from 2 to 6 adult sodas (depending on how good you're feeling)

I thought the last contest in any tournament was the "why" contest. "Why didnt he climb, run, hit the target, drive, dig, pick, push, pull, dodge, dip, duck, dive, dodge faster?"

a new term to the glossary: "Duck Sauce." A three-year-in-the-making concoction but the flock from the rock has finally perfected it! Stop by our next camp for a taste.

Goes along the lines of ballbreaker juice and the twisted tumbler I'm guessing when you drink it you get "duck sauced"?
